Omran Press Releases

As the mercury rises, the recently launched resort developed by Omran experiences huge demand from tourists from the Sultanate and across the region.

Following the opening of Alila Hotels & Resorts’ first property in the Sultanate and the Middle East, Alila Jabal Akhdar has welcomed guests from across Oman and the GCC who have come to experience the ‘Alila way’ during one of the most beautiful times of the year on the green mountain.
Overlooking a dramatic gorge over 2,000 meters up in the Hajar Mountains, Alila Jabal Akhdar provides access to one of Oman’s most spectacular and untapped regions, a boon for nature lovers, active travellers and those seeking the mountains to escape the desert heat.

Owned by Omran, with the mandate to deliver major projects and manage assets and investments in the tourism sector in Oman, the Alila Jabal Akhdar resort has witnessed global interest owing to its unique location and infusion of local Omani traditions. The resort, which is Omran’s first project in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, was recently named as the country’s ‘Sustainable Project of the Year’ and ‘Hospitality Project of the Year’ by ConstructionWeekOnline.Com’s 3rd Construction Week Oman Awards.

Eng. AbdulWahid Al Farsi, Acting Chief Communications Officer, Omran commented on this unique property and its contribution towards making Jabal Akhdar a popular tourist destination in the Sultanate while benefiting the local community. He said, “Omran’s vision for Alila Jabal Akhdar was to create a destination-based property which would set a milestone in Oman’s tourism offerings. The resort has begun to cater to the increasing demand of tourism in Jabal Al Akhdar and the year-round cool temperatures have attracted an influx of tourists from across Oman and the region. Alila Jabal Akhdar, in line with Omran’s philosophy, has been designed to minimise impact on its environment while maximising on the area's outstanding natural beauty through the incorporation of locally sourced materials and traditional artisanal craftsmanship, and that is what makes it distinctive.”

Responsible development has been a priority in Omran’s agenda toward promoting tourism in the Sultanate, and as their first project in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, the Alila Jabal Akhdar Resort is testament to this guiding vision. Through constant collaboration with contractors, suppliers and partners, Omran was successfully able to overcome the rugged landscape’s challenges and bring a complex, unique and much anticipated project like this to fruition ahead of time and within budget in one of Oman’s most picturesque locations.

Jork Bosselaar, General Manager of Alila Jabal Akhdar mentioned, “Since the official opening of the resort the team has been full steam ahead to service the high occupancy rates. We are so pleased that the resort was met with a large wave of reservations from local, regional and international guests seeking a unique destination experience. With support and guidance from Omran, the resort pioneered a new genre of luxury hospitality in the Middle East and we are proud to manage this fantastic property which has been collecting accolades from our initial group of guests.”

Beginning from May 2014, Alila Jabal Akhdar has been welcoming its first guests to witness the seasonal rose blooming as thousand trees of roses transform the mountains into a plethora of colours. In celebration of the opening, Alila Jabal Akhdar also offered the Alila Rose Package - a two-night stay at the brand new mountain resort, with a welcome dinner and a guided tour to the famous rose terraces as well as a restorative rose bath for indulgence which will leave guests rested and relaxed.

Guests at the Alila Jabal Akhdar benefit from specially crafted 'Alila Experiences' covering cultural learning, conscious living, active spirits, culinary arts and couple celebration, encouraging a discovery of the region and connecting guests with 'surprisingly different' authentic destination experiences — from private palm-shadowed picnics to sensational star-lit suppers.

The resort promises an unparalleled retreat in the mountains for guests seeking a holistic experience to soothe the body and mind. The brand new resort features Oman prominently in all aspects – through the inspiration from geography and architecture for the interiors, the specially crafted ‘Islamic Mediterranean’ cuisine that will feature on the menu as well as the products provided to guests – using Oman as a muse, and utilising local ingredients such as Juniper and Rose.
