Omran Wins CSR Honorary Medal
Oman tourism development Company SOAC (Omran) has won the H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bin Mubarak Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)Medal at the 3rd annual GCC Corporate Social Responsibility Conference held in Dubai in April.
The medal was awarded by H.H.Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, honorary president of the Emirates Red Crescent, the organization behind the 3rd GCC Corporate Social Responsibility Conference. The conference was attended by senior management and officials from a number of corporations and government entities from across the GCC, Middle East as well as international delegates.
H.E Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development, presented honorary medals to thewinningorganizations,includingMubadalaDevelopment Company from the UAE, Gulf Petrochemical Industries Companyfrom Bahrain, Funoon Al Turathfrom Saudi Arabia, Qatar Fuel(Woqood), National Bank of Kuwait and Omran representing Oman.
Commenting on the international award recognition, the Acting CEO of OmranEng. Ali Al Rasbisaid,“We are proud to represent Oman and be recognized with this prestigious medal for our CSR efforts. This win would not have been possible without the collective efforts from all of our staff and the community members”
Omran’s strategic approach centres on four key pillars to ensure the long term sustainability of company operations and the nation as a whole. These pillar’s include;economy, society, environment and cultural heritage.The company alsoworks in harmony with local communities on a number of projects and initiatives to support and promote local talent. Key internationally awarded CSR initiatives launched by Omran include: ‘Intajee’ a program that supports local producers, and ‘Zaree’ a program to support female micro-tourism businesses, as well as numerous environmental awareness initiatives and activities.
Eighteen speakers from seven different countries took part in the conference, each offering unique insights into issues relating to CSR. The conference also included specialized workshops aimed at enhancing civil society in CSR by encouraging partnerships between the public and private sectors, developing financial resources and enhancing the relationship between volunteer work and social responsibility.
Omran’songoing CSR efforts, as detailed in the 2013/2014 Sustainability Report have received international acclaim and led to the company being named as the region’s most transparent developer by The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an organisation pioneering the development of the World’s most widely used sustainability reporting framework.
