8 February 2023
The Buraimi Carnival, a joint effort of the Buraimi Governor’s Office, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group), is set to kick off tomorrow at the Buraimi Public Park. This event is a testament to the continued efforts of all parties involved to enhance tourism experiences in Oman and increase the sector’s contribution to the country’s economic diversification efforts.
The carnival, which will take place from February 8 to 12, will feature a variety of exciting activities, games, theatrical performances and local & international cuisines, while also providing a platform for local companies, SMEs, and home businesses to showcase their products and services. Over 40 food and beverage vendors and entertainers are participating in the event.
Speaking about the event, HE Sayyid Dr Hamad Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Buraimi, stated, “The Buraimi Carnival is the result of our efforts to recognise and host distinctive tourism events that contribute to the enhancement of local tourism offerings and the growth of the Buraimi Governorate while also supporting SMEs and generating new business opportunities for them. The carnival provides an excellent opportunity for local businesses, SMEs, and home-based businesses to showcase their products and services in an innovative and modern manner. Additionally, this event will be held annually for the next three years, spanning five days each.”
Haitham Mohammed al Ghassani, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, added, “The Buraimi Carnival aligns with the Ministry’s campaign, ‘Live the Vibe,’ which seeks to enhance the tourism sector in each governorate by offering diverse tourism products and elevating the role of SMEs in ensuring success. As a result, visitors to the carnival will have a diverse range of food and drink options and entertainment choices, which is expected to drive up attendance.”
“OMRAN Group has been launching various initiatives in partnership with multiple sectors of the local community to maximise tourism-sector offerings,” said Mohammed Murtadha Al Eissa, Chief Corporate Planning & Communications Officer of OMRAN Group. “In fact, the Group is organising a series of carnivals and initiatives in various governorates in cooperation with their respective governor’s offices. These carnivals are meant to stimulate and rejuvenate local tourism, as well as enhance the In-Country Value through the participation of SMEs”.
Sarah Al Zadjali, the Founder and Executive Director of Celebrate Oman, stated, “Visitors to the Buraimi Carnival will have access to an array of food and beverage outlets offering both local and international cuisine. Throughout the five-day event and from 4 pm to 12 midnight, attendees will have the chance to partake in a variety of unique entertainment activities that include outdoor cinema, horse riding, light & fire shows and more”.
The Buraimi Carnival is one of carnivals being organised by the OMRAN Group, in collaboration with various tourism development entities, at tourist destinations across the country. The objective of these carnivals is to boost local tourism and maximise local value, resulting in social and economic benefits to each of the governorates in which they are being held and the country as a whole.
