Sustainability & Legacy
A Responsible Approach to Tourism Development
Sustainability is central to OMRAN Group’s mandate as Oman’s leading tourism developer. Our approach supports long-term economic growth while safeguarding the natural environment, cultural identity, and wellbeing of communities across the Sultanate of Oman.
We apply sustainable design principles, responsible environmental management, and social impact considerations across every stage of development. This commitment strengthens In-Country Value (ICV), increases local participation, and ensures that Oman’s heritage and landscapes remain preserved for future generations.
OMRAN Group adopts the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework across its portfolio, aligning our work with both global standards and national priorities. Several of our developments have achieved LEED certification, demonstrating adherence to internationally recognised sustainability practices in design, construction, and operations.
Our ESG efforts also support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and contribute to Oman’s Net Zero 2050 commitment, reinforcing the Group’s role in promoting responsible, transparent, and measurable sustainability performance.
Supporting Local Economies and In-Country Value
Strengthening local economies is a key component of OMRAN Group’s sustainability and social investment strategy. We actively integrate SMEs, entrepreneurs, and community businesses into the tourism value chain, thus expanding market access and supporting national economic diversification.
Our ICV efforts focus on:
-
Increasing local procurement
-
Developing and upskilling Omani suppliers
-
Enabling community entrepreneurship
-
Creating long-term employment opportunities
Intajee, OMRAN Group’s dedicated local content platform, further enhances SME participation by connecting local suppliers and manufacturers with the Group’s assets and partners.
OMRAN Group also supports the Handicraft Promotion Initiative, providing dedicated retail spaces within our hotels and destinations for the sale of authentic Omani crafts, in partnership with the SME Development Authority. This initiative empowers local talents, ensures income generation, and preserves traditional craftsmanship.
In alignment with the Oman Investment Authority’s Social Investment (SI) policy, OMRAN Group balances regional community needs with national programmes that generate wider socio-economic value.
Empowering National Talent
Human capital development is a foundational pillar of OMRAN Group’s strategy. Through the IAmTourism strategy, we support talent development from early awareness to professional advancement.
The strategy is built around four priorities:
-
Inform - increasing awareness of careers in tourism
-
Attract - encouraging youth to join the sector
-
Retain - providing long-term training and development
-
Partner - collaborating with academic and industry institutions
Specialised inclusion and talent initiatives include:
-
Gifted - creating opportunities for people with disabilities
-
Women in Marine/Tourism - empowering women in specialised and emerging tourism fields
-
Sustainability Ambassadors - raising awareness among youth and building environmental responsibility
-
Creatourism & Innovation Programmes - supporting creative industries and entrepreneurial tourism
Oman Tourism College plays a vital role by delivering academic and vocational training aligned with industry needs. Through collaboration between education and industry, OMRAN Group helps build future-ready competencies across the tourism ecosystem.

Community-Centered Initiatives
OMRAN Group delivers targeted programmes that empower communities and ensure that tourism development reflects local stories, skills, and heritage.
Tourism Meets Technology
OMRAN Group supports the growth of innovation and digital capabilities within the tourism sector by encouraging new ideas, creative solutions, and technology driven approaches that enhance visitor experiences.
As part of this commitment, the OMRAN Hackathon engaged Omani youth in developing technology based solutions for tourism challenges. The initiative promotes innovation, problem solving, and entrepreneurship, helping build a digitally enabled and future ready tourism ecosystem.
Working Together for Sustainable Growth
OMRAN Group collaborates closely with government entities, private-sector partners, NGOs, operators, and local communities to ensure that tourism development is aligned with national priorities and delivered responsibly. Our approach balances economic growth with environmental stewardship and social wellbeing.
Through this integrated and future-focused commitment, OMRAN Group supports the transformation of the Sultanate of Oman’s tourism sector, advancing long-term prosperity, strengthening cultural connection, and contributing to the aspirations of Oman Vision 2040.
